Type notes: In his description of Zamia pungens, Linnaeus filius cited in synonymy the pre-Linnean name 'Palma fobolifera, aegyptia, foliis levioribus, fructa nigro' published in Till. Pis. 129, Tab. 45. 1723, with the illustration (Tab. 45) being the only original material cited. As the description and illustration refer to the palm known as Phoenix dactylifera L. the name is therefore considered a synonym of this palm. in Pisano and actually refers to the palm Phoenix dactylifera. See illustration below:
