Etymology: Honoring Dr. Friedrich Anton Wilhelm Miquel (1811–1871), Dutch physician and botanist who was the former director of Rotterdam Botanic Garden, Amsterdam Botanic Garden, and Utrecht Botanic Garden, and was a pre-eminent figure in cycad studies in the 19th century. [source]
