Etymology: Honoring Dr. Silvia Hortensia Salas-Morales, co-founder of Sociedad para el Estudio de los Recursos Bióticos de Oaxaca A. C. (SERBO), for her contributions to the knowledge of the flora and forestry in Oaxaca, particularly the discovery of numerous cycad populations.[9] [source]
