First published in: Ill. Hort. 33: 27, pl. 586. (1886). [BHL]
Nomenclature notes: As 'C. bellefonti'. Considered a doubtful name by Hill et al. (Bot. Rev. (Lancaster) 70(2): 190. 2004), who provided the following explanation: 'TYPE: The plate, planche 586 in Ill. hortic. 33. 1886, has been accepted as the type (de Laubenfels
& Adema, 1998). This plate clearly shows numerous leaves with relatively broad pinnae tapering more or less equally toward both base and apex. This condition is not found in any known Vietnamese species, and may be an artifact of the illustration. The plate therefore cannot be matched unequivocally with any known species; in the absence of a type specimen, the name must be excluded.'
Nomenclatural Type Information
Type Location(s): NT:pl. 586
Type notes: Type designated by de Laubenfels & Adema (Blumea 43(2): 391. 1998) without specifying what kind of type. Should be considered a neotype because the illustration is not likely to be 'original material' upon which it can be shown that the description or diagnosis validating the name was based.
Taxonomic Status: This name is considered a Nomen dubium
