Abstract
The authors recall the strong interest of Melville’s nomenclature for cones descriptions in Zamiaceae. They pinpoint the lack of such a framework for the description of leaves, while unfertile plants are common in the field. Therefore, they propose a schema involving some 22 characteristic points to be mentioned. An application is realized with the description of a new species from Zaire: Encephalartos schajesii.
