Name relationships and notes

Synonymy notes: New combination for E. spinulosus Lehm. This new combination was published for the first time in Prodr. [A. P. de Candolle] 16(2): 531 (1868) but the authorship was attributed by de Candolle to Miquel, citing Miquel's publication in Linnaea 19: 420 (1847). Miquel had treated E. spinulosus as a juvenile form and synonym of E. lehmannii but had not formally accepted it as a variety as de Candolle did.
