Type notes: Described from cultivated plants in Acharya Jagdish Chandra Bose Indian Botanic Garden in Calcutta. Provenance unknown but reported as 'probably introduced from Andaman & Nicobar Islands'. Considered similar but distinct from Cycas zeylanica (J.Schust.) A.Lindstr. & K.D.Hill in the protologue description. Sporophyll depicted in protologue does match material from the Andaman Islands (A.J. Lindstrom, pers. comm.) .
