Nomenclatural notes: The name Encephalartos woodii was ascribed to 'Hort. Sander' in Gard. Chron., ser. 3 43: 257. 1908 and a description of the plant was provided by the editors of The Gardeners' Chronicle based on plants exhibited at the Ghent Exhibition by Messrs. F. Sander & Sons. However, the name was not validly published here as it was provided as a provisional name (See article 36.1(b) in McNeill et al. (eds.), 2012). The name was validly published by Medley Wood in Gard. Chron., ser. 3 43: 414. 1908 who accepted the name and ascribed it to Sander by providing a direct reference to the earlier publication.
