Type Information

Collector and Number: J. Rees 1613

Locality: Mexico: San Luis Potosí: Mpio. Cuidad del Maiz: Ejido las Abritas, 850 m, 7-Nov-77

Type Location(s): HT:XAL

Type notes: Stevenson & Sabato (1986, in Taxon 35(3): 580) cited J. Rees 1681 (XAL) as the holotype, but this is actually a paratype. The holotype collection as cited in the protologue is J. Rees 1613 (XAL).

This name is considered a Synonym of Ceratozamia latifolia Miq.

Synonymy notes: Synonymy with C. latifolia based on Martínez-Domínguez et al. 2018 in Phytokeys 100: 109. The following explanation provided by the authors: 'This decision stems from the typification by Stevenson and Sabato (1986), where a neotype specimen geographically located in San Luis Potosí was designated to validate the binomial. In addition, we consider that C. microstrobila is part of C. latifolia, due to the absence of morphological and molecular evidence to recognise the former as a distinct species.'
