Locality: Cultivated at Fairchild Tropical Garden, originally collected by Mr. Merrill Rogers in Chiapas, 18km along the road from Mexican highway 190 to Malpaso, 500 m Type Location(s):
Synonymy notes: Previously placed into synonymy with Zamia katzeriana by Nicolalde-Morejón et al. (2008) in Brittonia 60(1): 38-48. Perez-Farrera et al. (in Phytotaxa 270 (3): 161181, 2016) considered Zamia splendens as an accepted species and Zamia katzeriana as a separate species with possible hybrid origin with Z. splendens and Z. loddigesii as putative ancestors.
